This old edwardian desk / console table was bought from us by Kerry, who had idea for it already in mind. Desk had its top replaced and finished with slightly different colour wood dye. On the photos below you can see how Kerry completely transformed and refreshed this piece of furniture, which looks absolutely stunning now. Painted grey with matt finish fits perfectly into the rest of the room. (I think the autioneer thought i was mad bidding on a van i hadnt seen!!!).. and maybe i was.. impulse!!.. had a feeling about it ;-).. may all go wrong.. i seriously have no luck with vans!!<br /><br />Its sadly been 3 months now that we have been stuck without a van as the old one was being fitted with a new engine!!.. we were told it will be finished next week, but have heard this for months, arghhhh, not only the engine but then a gear box, then a clutch!!.. where does it stop??... so crazily i was viewing furniture at the local auction and just as i was one minute bidding on a sweet little sewing box going at a bargin price of £5.. it was fab so in need of TLC and some <a href="http://www.refunkyourjunk.co.uk">refunking</a>.. I found out there was a van being auctioned off!!.. NEXT!! <br /><br />All hammer and tongs as you do in a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auction">auction</a>.. possibly slightly carried away with it, still thinking i was bidding on a £3 shelf!! the price went down too £100 i Bidded!!.. and i bidded again.. just like furniture i have bought in the past!! I couldnt stop!!.. I decided I wanted it!! <br /><br />Oh MY!!... the other bidder stopped!!!!.. Sooo we are now back on the road :-), <br /><br />Collections / Deliveries you name it we can help out. dont forget we do have a few things we just dont have room for.. those bizzare creations Wall Units!!, and sadly sofas & armchairs....<br /><br />Armchairs Pre 1950 I do have a market for if anyone is having trouble finding a home for them.. I have a list of people willing to take them to re-upholster. (infact ill do a seperate blog for that). we will seriously make very few pennies.. but any upholsterers that do take them we always ask for a picture to add to the blog. it seems battered, torn, ripped or with no springs you name it they want it, (but want it for nothing) - fair enough I say, if your going to spend that long on a piece you need the piece cheap, I have an arm full of upholsterers after them. Since then the lower part of the valley has developed into a cultural oasis. is a bit of a long shot but after looking high and low for a second property we have found nothing.. Well we did find a couple, but one place was too expensive and one place isnt quite finished...<br /><br />So we have decided to reach out to you lot. Do you know a landlord with a reasonable sized property that isnt being used?? 3000 - 6000 sqft?? the closer the better to Ouseburn valley, easily accessible by public transport is a plus as i know designers are not fans of a long walk especially in the coming winter months..<br /><br />We require very little in means of amenities, "Lights, toilet and some running water" is about it. Really hoping to find a space so that we can get more of the community involved. We believe it was used by nice housewife since 1950's, but unfortunately time has left its signs. Scratches and stains all over the sideboard were pretty bad. It would be real shame to throw such a lovely piece away...<br />As soon as sideboard arrived to our shop, P. spotted its potential and... this way we can tick the box "First furniture restoration" - DONE! :-) Piece like that should stay close to its original version, so P. decided not to go towards refunking it, instead he sanded sideoboard down and brought beautiful wood features out. Bit of wood dyer gave it new darker look and careful waxing created this masterpiece, so other lovely lady can use it again! i am having a trauma with a chest of drawers.. that just isn't working for me... I actually feel there is a bit of structure now she is back, and she has us all starting at 10am again :-)<br /><br />Pamela has been in today giving me some extra website support and varnishing her first piece that is looking really good.<br /><br />Friday tomorrow: We have a new lad joining luckily will balance the numbers a bit, Mike has shown us some very funky and cool recycled musical <span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">instruments</span> he has made at home - watch this space and our designers board for more information on his pieces and were his creativity unfolds in furniture.<br /><br />Still aiming to come back and tell you how we got this far, and promise i will be back in the not too distant future with an update.<br /><br />Main roller shutter has finally been painted, much to the shock of our landlord..
